Well, that’s a question that we cannot answer for you online and is the reason that we have over 20 full sets of beds in our dedicated bed showroom, upstairs at Flanagan kerins, Bray, Co. Wicklow.
The firmness of a mattress refers to the initial feel you experience when lying on it. Mattresses are known as soft, medium, or firm. The mattress industry will often score its beds on a “firmness scale” with a range from 1-10. A mattress that scores a 1/10 would be the softest mattress in the world, and one that scores a 10/10 would be the firmest.
Soft mattresses generally fall within the 3-5/10 range on the firmness scale. They normally use cushioning materials like quilted pillow tops or thick sections of memory foam in their top comfort layers. They are characterized by feelings of deep sinkage, body-contouring, and pressure relief.
You won’t experience too much push back on a soft mattress, which means you’re likely to feel more “in” it than “on” it.
Medium-firm mattresses generally fall within the 6-7/10 range on the firmness scale. These mattresses usually combine soft top layers with sturdier foundations of pocketed coils. This establishes a balance between pressure relief and support, which is appealing to a wide range of sleepers.
You are more likely to feel lifted up and out of the bed. Medium-firm mattresses can be great for combination sleepers or back sleepers, benefiting from a little extra movement.
Firm mattresses, which usually fall within the 8-10/10 range on the firmness scale. These beds rarely employ soft or plush materials in their comfort layers; instead, they insert a thin layer of soft foam atop high-density polyfoam or springs. Firm mattresses can be highly supportive for stomach sleepers and heavier people.
On a firm mattress, every part of your body should be lifted squarely on the mattress with plenty of push back.

It might go without saying, but a bunk bed is a life-saver if you’re trying to save bedroom space. When kids share a room, you’re tasked with squeezing two of everything inside one room.
And even if your kids don’t share a room, a bunk bed is a great option for sleepovers. It means you won’t need to use up precious storage space to stow away a spare mattress or camp bed.
For the bottom bunk, wait until your child has outgrown their toddler bed and is ready to upgrade to a larger children’s bed. This usually happens at around the age of five or six years old. Don’t allow a child to sleep on the top bunk bed until they are at least 6 years old. Position bunk beds away from windows, ceiling lights, fans and furniture. Generally speaking, bunk beds are suitable for kids who are aged between 6-16 years old.
Do not allow children to play on bunk beds.

Before buying furniture, it is important customers confirm the measurements of their room as well as all access points before placing the order. Measurement details for each furniture item are displayed on their individual product information page
Certain furniture items are fully assembled on arrival and it’s important to check that they will fit into the proportion of the room. We advise customers to check the item will fit through doorways, hallways and up stairs without damaging paintwork or windows. If our delivery team cannot get the furniture item into the house, they will need to return to us at the customer’s expense.
A useful way to check whether furniture will fit in a particular room is to map out the space using masking tape or newspaper. With dining tables, we would advise at least 60cm (24in) clearance from the chair when it’s out from the table to sit comfortably. When replacing older furniture, mark out the area of the new piece compared to the existing piece to check the difference in size.
We take great care in capturing representative imagery of all the finishes and fabrics we have on display.
Sometimes, due to individual computer display settings, colour variation and individual lighting conditions, it is difficult to ensure that what you see on your monitor will be identical to the actual product…
That’s why you are more than welcome to come into our showroom and look at fabric swatches or we can post out some swatches upon request.
(Flanagan Kerins cannot accept responsibility if there is a slight difference in colour between actual products and images on the website – so when it comes to swatches, please do ask away.)
Outdoor furniture all comes flatpack, to be assembled by the customer.
If you are interested in fabric swatches please phone the shop and speak to a member of our sales team who will be able to help you with information on our products. They are available from 9.30am – 6pm on +353 12813338

It’s a scary thought for any parent but, yes, bunk beds can collapse – but only if they’re not assembled correctly! You should follow your assembly instructions carefully and make sure no pieces are missing when you’re done. Check all the screws are tightened. Does the bed feel sturdy? You should push the bed from all sides once it’s assembled to double-check sturdiness.
Once your bunk bed is assembled, you should make sure you’re always following the safety guidelines and regularly check the bed to make sure it’s secure. With correct assembly, a high-quality bed, and safety guidelines followed, your new bunk bed poses no risk.
No our bunkbeds are designed for children or teenagers between the age of 6-16.
Yes if you’ve bought a high-quality bunk bed and followed the assembly instructions correctly. There are also certain safety rules and guidelines you should follow once the bed is built, such as ensuring your child is old enough for a bunk bed and that the height of the bed is right for the room you’re placing it in.
